Professional Statement
Born and raised in Seattle, Dr. Gene Tharalson attended Seattle University, a Jesuit school in the center of the city. A major in chemistry gave him the opportunity to work as an atmospheric chemist for the year following graduation. In spite of challenging work that took him all the way to Antarctica, he very quickly realized that this would not be the career path for him. In addition to developing his skills in Gastroenterology, he became known during his Fellowship as a dynamic speaker. Perhaps his best-known lecture is an in-depth review of intestinal gas. His career goals include general Gastroenterology practice with an emphasis on endoscopic ultrasound. He now resides in Scottsdale with his wife Erin.
